We are Mike and Jeff from San Francisco, CA. We are a couple in our 30s looking forward to starting a family. We have been together for nearly 8 years, and recently got married surrounded by family and friends. We are now looking to start our family and have Mike be a stay-at home dad. We can’t wait to share our love and our life with your child. We hope you learn a bit about who we are and what we’re like and how much we have to offer a child. We wish you all the best as you make this decision.
We met online in January of 2010. Jeff was Mike’s first online date. Mike knew pretty quickly after meeting Jeff that he could close his online account. After about 6 months we moved in together into a small studio apartment in the Mission district of San Francisco. In 2011 we bought a house in the Bernal Heights neighborhood with the intent to start our family. In the summer of 2016 we traveled to Italy and Greece and while there Jeff managed one of the most romantic proposals ever on a Santorini cliff side at sunset. We had an amazing wedding in April of 2017 surrounded by friends and family and celebrated our love and commitment to one another.
Jeff works in the public transportation industry in management for a small, college town. Mike is a high school music teacher and teaches band, orchestra, and marching band in the south bay. While Mike loves his job dearly, he can’t wait to be a stay-at-home dad with a new little baby.
We have both always wanted kids. We are fortunate enough to be in a place in our lives where we are confident that now is the best time to start a family. We dream of the day when we can start sharing our love with a little one and have a family of our own.
Jeff has been my best friend, my greatest joy, and my biggest supporter since we met nearly 8 years ago. I cannot imagine my life without him now.
Jeff grew up in Livermore, CA in the San Francisco East Bay with a very loving and supportive family. He attended college at UC Davis close to home so he could visit his mom often. It was in Davis that he started working as a bus driver in the student run transit operation. He quickly moved up the ranks, and after graduating college began his career in public transportation.Jeff doesn’t do anything on a whim and thinks through almost every detail of every decision. That is why I never hesitated when he asked me to marry him and why I know he means it when he says “let’s start a family.” Our kid is going to feel so much love and support throughout their life and Jeff is going to make the most amazing daddy. Even though I will be the stay-at-home parent in our family, Jeff is going to be the type of dad that is very hands on; the type of dad that takes our kids outside to play catch or fly kites every chance he gets and will tuck in our little one and read a bedtime story every night.
Mike was born and raised in Colorado and moved to California after college. When I met Mike for the first time, I noticed how sweet and caring he is. He honestly cares and loves those around him and this shows in the way he interacts with his students as a high school band teacher. His passion for music and for teaching is one of my favorite things about Mike. He strongly believes in music education and sharing his love of music, especially with children. I didn’t grow up with music and it’s something that I’ve learned to appreciate so much more through Mike and look forward to our child learning about music.
Mike loves to travel and that’s something that he’s inspired in me. Thanks to Mike, we’ve traveled more than I would have on my own. He’s always wanted a family, something we have in common. I can just imagine how wonderful it will be to come home and find Mike, a stay-at-home dad, sitting on the floor and playing with our little one! Mike is my rock. He reminds me not to be so serious and has taught me a lot about enjoying life, friends, and family. I imagine he will do the same as my co-parenting partner.
Our home is a comfortable two-bedroom house in the quiet neighborhood of Bernal Heights in San Francisco. It is the perfect home to start our family with our second bedroom becoming the new baby’s nursery. It is here that we’ll welcome our little one, where Mike will experience being a stay-at-home dad, where our baby will learn to crawl, where they’ll take their first steps. We love to cook together and make a point of having dinner at the table together every night, a tradition we will keep with our child. With plenty of room to laugh and play, and full of enough love to last a lifetime, we can’t wait to start a family inside this home.
Family is very important to us. We recently became uncles (and Godparents) to Jeff’s sister’s child, Dane (the cousin of our future child). Mike’s family is in Colorado and we visit a couple times per year and call and text daily.
Growing up we both spent lots of time around grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins, and we will strive to give our child that same family dynamic. Big family celebrations, holidays spent around the table, and an annual extended family vacation in the mountains will all be made even more special with our new family of 3. Our child will be surrounded by that same love and support both in our home and by our extended family and friends.
We understand this must be an overwhelming decision, and we thank you for taking the time to read about us. As you consider all your options, we hope that you find one that feels right for you.
We promise to raise your child with so much love. To give your child everything they could possibly need to have a good, warm, and successful life. We plan to have Mike be a stay-at home dad so that we can provide around the clock care in the first years of life. Most of all though, we promise to love your child every minute, and tell them every day that they are loved, including by you!
Thank you!
Jeff & Mike
