Hi! We're Staci, Mabel & Jay.
Family is very important to us, and adoption has always been a part of it. Mabel can't wait to be a big sister!

Our family believes in the healing power of a good cry and a good laugh. We tell a lot of jokes and like to give each other a hard time. It’s all in good fun!

We admire you for considering to place your child for adoption and we look forward to getting to know you.

Jay and his sister were both adopted and so were Staci's cousins. Our daughter Mabel joined us through open adoption in 2013. Our relationship with Mabel's birth mom is very important to us and one reason we chose open adoption again.

Why We Chose Open Adoption Again

We have an amazing connection with Mabel's birth mother. We stay in touch via text and regularly share photos and videos of Mabel. Two or three times a year we all get together for dinner. Our relationship with Mabel's birth mom is very important to us and one reason we chose open adoption again. We want our children to know as much as possible about their birth family.

We admire you for considering to place your child for adoption and we look forward to getting to know you.

    Home Is Wherever We're Together

We live about 20 minutes east of Los Angeles with our four-year-old daughter, Mabel and our dog, Cody.

We've been together for 12 years and our relationship is very important to us. We work as a team to manage the household duties and take turns cooking dinner, giving baths and reading bedtime stories.

    JAY

I always wanted to fly airplanes and live in California, and now I do both. I'm a private pilot, and we own a small airplane. The whole family loves to go flying - dog included! We love taking day trips to cities around the West Coast, constantly searching for the best hamburger in California.

I was born in Nebraska and adopted when I was a month old. Adoption has always been a part of my life. When I was six, my family moved to Greenville, South Carolina, which I consider my "hometown." I love southern cooking, southern hospitality, and I can even speak “southerner."

We all get ready together in the morning then I drop Mabel off at preschool before heading to my job at Disney. I'm a lead software engineer for Walt Disney Parks and Resorts.

Our weekends are usually pretty packed - playing with friends, visiting local beaches, parks and musuems, and of course, flying. But in my spare time, I like to work on projects around the house and on our airplane.

I never hesitate to start a tickle fight because I love hearing the sound of baby giggles.

    STACI

Growing up I knew I wanted to explore the world. I grew up in Topeka, Kansas (yes, as in Dorothy, Toto and the Wizard), but I've been able to live in some amazing cities like Seattle, Knoxville, New York City and San Francisco. Now, I call Southern California my home.

I love singing and dancing to Disney songs around the house, and I can often be found baking or decorating cakes or cupcakes for my family's birthdays and holidays.

Halloween is my favorite holiday, and I love creating costumes for the family and decorating our house.

I'm also learning how to fly and hope to have my private pilot license soon.

I am a tenure-track professor at a private university where I teach communication. I get long winter breaks and summers off! My schedule is flexible so I can take Mabel to ice skating classes and to the pool to swim. And of course, we go to Disneyland A LOT!

But snuggling up with Mabel to read books and talk about her day are two of my favorite pastimes.

Learn More About The Aspiring Big Sister

    THE ASPIRING BIG SISTER

Our daughter, Mabel Jane was born in August of 2013 and joined our family though open adoption. She is the happiest, chattiest kid, ever! She loves looking at books, climbing, twirling, and singing. Mabel recently started ice skating lessons and announced she wants to play hockey. She also takes swim lessons and goes to gymnastics club.

Mabel is a compassionate, curious child who loves to read books, do puzzles and build with LEGOs. She attends preschool now and will start kindergarten in the fall.

She has a big heart and a sweet personality. We know she will be the most amazing, caring big sister! She is constantly talking about the things she wants to teach her sibling.

Get To Know Our Easy-Going Dog

Cody aka "Doggie" is an 13 year old lab mix. He’s the most gentle, easy-going dog we have every met. He loves chasing balls, squirrels and gophers, and he’s great with kids. Cody is very excited about welcoming a baby into the family. He loves the extra crumbs and belly pets!

Read About Our Thoughts on Parenting

We Believe In Laughter, Hugs & Kisses

Everyone is a unique individual, and we don’t think there is one “right’ way to parent. Our basic approach to parenting is to teach our children to be kind, considerate and respectful of other people’s feelings and grow up to be the best adults they can be.

We both believe strongly in the healing power of a good cry and a good laugh. We tell a lot of jokes and like to give each other a hard time. It’s all in good fun!

We want our children to experience as many different people, places and things as possible, so they grow up appreciating all that the world has to offer.

Life is meant to be enjoyed and we plan to enjoy every minute of it! We love that parenting gives us an opportunity to explore the world and learn as our children learn. Our family loves Disney and Pixar movies, riding roller coasters at Disneyland, swimming in the ocean, reading books and flying around California in our airplane.
