Hi! We are Dan and Catherine from Mountain View, Ca. Thank you for taking a moment to get to know us a little bit. We are a caring and thoughtful couple excited about becoming parents. We enjoy playing with the children in our lives and can't wait to be parents ourselves.
We value and appreciate your willingness to explore open adoption as you consider what is best for you and your baby. We look forward to hearing about you. Along with the hopes and dreams you have for yourself and your baby. If you would like to see some additional pictures, videos, along with what we are up to please visit our facebook page at www.facebook.com/DanandCatherineAdopt
Friends often ask what it was about the other person that made us want to talk to each other in the store, when most of the time, we rarely pay attention to anything other than our shopping. Fifteen years later neither of us have a better answer than, “I don’t know. There was just something about him/her.”
After we met, we dated for a few years while Catherine finished nursing school. We were married in 2003 and feel blessed to have a relationship where after 12 years of marriage we still like to spend our time and do things together. We can’t wait to be able to share our joy of life and love with a little one.
We live in Mountain View, Ca. Or, as it is better known, the home of Google. We like Mountain View because it is diverse, close to everything, and the weather is awesome. We are able to go outside and play all year.
There is a small park two houses down from where we live. We enjoy taking our dog Archie to the park to hang out and watch all of the different people. There are families with their kids on the play structures, people reading books or playing soccer and sometimes the occasional musician. Also, the city does a great job at having events for the public. There is a Movies in the Park series for kids during the summer. We think that it will be so fun to lay out on a blanket and watch a movie together under the stars as a family.
I have always wanted to be a mom. I feel extremely blessed that I am going to be a mom with someone I know is going to make an incredible dad. He is already amazing with our cat Julio and our dog Archie. He is always checking in on them, playing with them and making sure they are okay.
Years ago Dan felt bad that Julio didn’t have any grass to lay in. So, he built a planter and grew grass just so Julio could have a lawn. He is always doing thoughtful things like that.
I also know he will be a wonderful father because he will set a great example of how a wife and mother should be treated. He is so kind and supportive. I always know he’s got my back.
It is almost impossible for me to put into words how much I adore my wife and what a fantastic mother I know she will be. But I really want you to know, so here goes…
From the moment we met, I knew that she was special. She thinks of others before herself, a trait often seen among nurses, but she goes above and beyond. An example is when, on the day before her brother’s wedding, she found out that they hadn’t planned anything for the kids. She went out and bought an ample supply of toys and games so that the kids would have a great time too.
Even though she is a kid at heart, she is also very responsible and safe. She drives so carefully and calmly that she has never even received a traffic ticket. I know that between being a kid at heart and her calm and reasonable manner, our child will be safe and well loved.
We often spend our free time hanging out at home. We are looking forward to spring and summer afternoons playing with toys on the patio while the baseball game is on in the background. We both like to play golf and are looking forward to teaching it to our child.
We enjoy traveling and like to go to Hawaii for vacation. When we go to Hawaii Catherine almost insists that we stay somewhere with a slide into the pool because, well, slides are fun. We are looking forward to playing in the water, teaching our child to swim and going down the slide together.
Catherine is a nurse practitioner. She works at a county clinic 4 days per week. She loves her job because she gets to help people who really need it.
Dan gets to work from home. He works for a company that collects information for the NFL about football players and their movements when they are playing on the field.
Both of us speak some Spanish. We continue to learn and Catherine gets to speak Spanish everyday at work. We plan to speak Spanish to our child, along with providing the resources and opportunities necessary for him or her to become at least bilingual.
Everyone is so excited about having a new member of the family. Dan’s mom can’t wait to teach our little one about gardening. Our nieces and nephews are thrilled about having a new cousin. While our brothers and sisters are all excited about becoming uncles and aunties to a new family member.
Catherine’s parents live in the nearby mountains. They are looking forward to reading with our child and we are looking forward to running around with our child in their meadow.
We value and appreciate your willingness to explore open adoption as you consider what is best for you and your baby.
Thank you for taking a moment to get to know us. We are looking forward to sharing our life with a child. As our child grows he or she will know about being adopted and how lucky he or she is to be loved by so many people, especially you.
We can imagine that you have many hopes and dreams for your child. If you choose to place your child with us, we will do all that we can to support and provide the opportunities in life for him or her to be happy, healthy and to succeed. This is a lifelong commitment. Under all circumstances and in any stage of life we will provide unconditional love and support. We look forward to hearing about you, along with your hopes and dreams for yourself and your baby.
