Thank you for taking the time to learn about us!

We are Kenny and Travis, a married couple from beautiful Castro Valley, a small community in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. Our neighborhood is diverse, with several other young families and easy access to several regional parks, where we enjoy lots of walks with our pup, Bandit.

Our proximity to San Francisco also allows us to take full advantage of many diverse cultural events, including museums and theater.

We are eager to share our community and lives with a child, and are thankful that you’ve taken the time to learn more about us and our commitment to starting our family through open adoption.

    Love,

    Kenny and Travis

    About Us

We met in 2011 over lunch while working at non-profit organizations in Oakland and hit it off immediately.

We both knew early in our relationship that we had similar interests and goals. We both are committed to serving and improving our communities and have a great appreciation for nature and the great outdoors. We also knew that we wanted to start a family.

We both have family members that were adopted. Our friends adopted their son, Nash through open adoption last year and we have witnessed the incredible opportunity for growth and love it provides all.

We hope to experience that same sharing and love through our own open adoption.

    About Travis

Travis grew up in Port Huron, Michigan, a small town on the border with Canada. Travis spent his formative years among the cornfields and forests with a close community of immediate family and large network of extended family. His experience growing up in an agricultural community influences his love for gardening and nature today. He looks forward to introducing the natural world of plants, critters, and animals to our child.

Travis works as a researcher for a labor union, dedicated to improving the lives of low-wage income earners in the health care industry. He is passionate about social justice, and previously worked in neighborhood centers in underserved communities. Prior to meeting Kenny, Travis lived in Oakland, Chicago, and East Lansing, Michigan.

    About Kenny

Kenny grew up in Huntington Beach, California, one of Southern California’s beach communities. Kenny grew up among a close-knit extended family and those ties are still very important to him today. Kenny’s ethnic background is Chinese, and Kenny speaks Mandarin with his parents. He also went to Chinese school all through childhood. We look forward to introducing our child to Kenny’s Chinese heritage, and are excited to teach our child Chinese.

Kenny works in the public sector as a transportation planner. He is passionate about improving traffic and transit for Bay Area residents. Prior to meeting Travis, Kenny lived in San Francisco, Monterey, Beijing, and Berkeley.

    Continuing Traditions

We are both big readers and have already started a small library of children’s books that we grew up with. We can’t wait to share them with your child.

We both find being in nature very spiritual and invigorating. We take annual trips to Zion National Park with our goddaughters and their family. We are lucky to be able to get out, enjoy the West, and spend time with the girls. We hope to one day include our own child in these annual get- togethers.

    Thank You

Thank you again for considering us in your adoption journey. We can’t wait to be parents and share our life of love and laughter with a child. We hope that this letter gives you a better understanding of us as people and prospective parents, and look forward to hearing from you so we can get to know each other better!
