Hello from sunny Santa Rosa, CA! We are Brian and Kira--thank you for taking time to get to know us. We are so grateful you are taking part in this process and for your courage to consider open adoption. Words can’t express our excitement at the opportunity to share our lives and love with a baby, and we know this wouldn’t be possible without you.

We have dreamed about becoming parents for as long as we can remember, and although we faced some challenges to do this on our own, we know that adoption is an excellent option to be able to do all of the things we’ve always hoped to do with our future child.

We are overjoyed at the idea of sharing our passions and hobbies with our child. We can’t wait to explore nature together, attend sporting events, read stories, and cook as a family. But most importantly, we look forward to the regular days - the days that seem ordinary to everyone else, but to us, they will be extraordinary because we will have the love of a child to share them with.

We are so excited to start our next adventure as parents and look forward to meeting you.

    Our Story

We're college sweethearts who met at Sonoma State University in 2007 during poetry class while both studying English. Brian then visited Kira at the local brewpub where she worked, and the connection was immediate. We both liked books and music, and the San Francisco Giants, and we've been together ever since. We married in 2011 in a wonderful ceremony at a local winery surrounded by family and friends.

We are warm and affectionate people who always make sure to communicate love every day--something we can't wait to share with our growing family. We value kindness, family, creativity, adventure, and each other. Education is very important to us, but we also enjoy laughing and being silly.

We live an active and healthy lifestyle and absolutely love the outdoors! We get out whenever we can to hike and walk our dogs. We also really enjoy camping, and we are very excited to start a camping tradition with our child. In our free time, you can catch us at a Giants or Warriors game, reading, and having movie nights complete with popcorn.

We look forward to sharing our values and past times with our child and seeing the world through their eyes - discovering new hobbies and fun activities every day.

    Meet Brian (by Kira)

Brian is kind, loyal and unselfish--and super funny! His impressions will have you in stitches! He loves to laugh and to make others laugh. He is caring and dedicated, and will do anything for the people he cares about.

Brian is my best friend. I trust him and love him so much. We are committed to never hurting each other with unkind words or actions. We are considerate of each other, and never take one another for granted. We also have so much fun together!

Brian teaches first grade at a local elementary school. He knew he wanted to be a teacher after working with kids at Boys and Girls Club. He already had his BA in English, so he went to graduate school to earn his Teaching Credential and a Master's in Education. He also coaches the boy’s and girl’s basketball teams, and is the school's Athletic Director. Being a teacher means that our child gets dad time over summer and winter break!

In his spare time, Brian enjoys writing. He is currently working on a young adult novel heavily influenced by his youth. He also loves playing basketball, photography, reading, hiking, camping, golf, biking, video games (favorites include NBA 2K and Metal Gear Solid), and listening to music. Brian even cooks—his specialties include turkey meatloaf and banana bread.

Brian will be an amazing dad. He is so patient and fun. I can't wait to see him with our baby in his arms. He's a great husband and will be a terrific father.

    Brian's Favorite Things

    -  Food: Kira's Korean BBQ Beef

    -  Dessert: Ice cream sandwiches

    -  Childhood Activity: Playing basketball

    -  Holiday: Halloween

    -  Dream Job: Novelist

    -  Kid's TV show/movie: Ninja Turtles

    -  Place to take a child: Camping at Salt Point

    Meet Kira (by Brian)

Kira is my best friend, my life partner, my everything. She is a ray of sunshine and smiles. She has a great demeanor and attitude no matter what happens. She handles everything with grace and determination. She is smart and funny. She is nurturing and sensitive. Kira is kind to others. She works hard. She has always been empowered and independent.

Kira works as a Technical Writer at a local company, and she will have the luxury of working from home after her 16 week maternity leave.

Kira is an avid reader. Her favorites include The Lord of the Rings, Watership Down, and the Harry Potter Series. She's always had a geeky side, and has been a Star Wars and Disney fan since she was a kid. She loves animals, and grew up riding horses at camp every summer. She also draws and paints, and at one time aspired to be an animator for Disney.

In her free time, she enjoys gardening, spending time with her best friend and her Goddaughter  Peyton, playing video games (favorites include The Last of Us and Skyrim), enjoying nature, music, playing tennis, and cooking--especially in the summer when she can grill!

With her loving and happy demeanor, Kira will be a natural mom. I can't wait to see her smiling with our child and sharing all of her many passions with them.

    Kira's Favorite Things

    -  Food: Brian's turkey meatloaf

    -  Dessert: Homemade chocolate chip cookies

    -  Childhood Activity: Riding horses

    -  Holiday: Christmas

    -  Dream Job: Lead Animator at Disney

    -  Kid's TV show/movie: Harry Potter

    -  Place to take a child: Disneyland!

    Home Sweet Home

Santa Rosa's motto is "Out there, in the middle of everything" - and it couldn't be more true! We're only a half an hour from the ocean, and hour north of San Francisco, and smack dab in the middle of one of the most beautiful places to live in the world. Our weather is mild, our trees are tall, and nature is at our doorstep. It's a magical place to live and raise children.

We are blessed to own a charming, sunny house in the heart of wine country, which we share with our two dogs. Our kid-friendly neighborhood is close to parks, the library, great schools, and a children's museum.

If we aren't cooking in the kitchen or lounging on our comfy couch, you can probably find us in our spacious backyard, grilling and playing with the dogs. We look forward to more backyard memories with our child, playing on a new play structure or hosting their next birthday party!

The nursery is ready! Fresh paint and special gifts from our friends and family are already waiting to welcome a little one.

Our home is especially homey during the holidays. With plenty of Halloween and Christmas decorations collected throughout the years, there's only one thing missing to make our home complete during that magical time of year.

Our house is filled with laughter, sunshine and warmth. We look forward to sharing the home we've made with our child.

    It Takes a Village

We know love and support are a huge part of being a family and raising children. That's why we know we are blessed to be surrounded by so many friends and family members who are not only there for us, but have already committed to helping us welcome our son or daughter, including five grandmas and three great-grandmas!

    Thank you

Thank you for getting to know us. We hope to hear from you!

    Warmly,

    Brian & Kira
